Which edge should I use?
Side sleepers usually like the higher edge. Back sleepers usually like the lower edge. Try both for a few nights.

How do I wash the cover?
Unzip it, machine-wash it cold on a gentle cycle and let it air-dry. Don't wash the foam.
Why does it smell a little when I open it?
New memory foam can have a light smell after being vacuum-packed. Let it air out for a day or two.
